HAVANA, August 15 (Jesús Zúñiga) Four men and two women, all Colombian nationals, were arrested August 8 while they were in transit through Havana on their way to Madrid with 7.6 kilograms of cocaine, according to officials of the General Customs Directorate.
The Colombians, all between the ages of 20 and 30, were on a flight from Venezuela to Madrid when a routine customs search at Havanas José Martí airport uncovered ten packages of cocaine in their luggage.
The six are presumed to be "mules" transporting the cocaine on behalf of unidentified third parties. Officials at the Colombian embassy in Havana confirmed the arrests and said they had been in contact with the detainees.
