SANTIAGO DE CUBA, August 11 (Luis Alberto Rivera, APLO) The Cuban government firm Cubanacán, S.A. inaugurated a modern dollar-denominated optical center under its Tourism and Health program.
The new center will perform an eye exam for 5 dollars, sell frames for anywhere between 15 and 45, and fill a prescription for bifocals for 58.
Dollars only, Cubans holding pesos need not apply. The center is expected to provide fast, quality service by contrast with peso-denominated opticians' which are plagued by chronic shortages and lackadaisical attention.
