HAVANA, August 11 (Regina del Sol) Two peasants in central Cuba were fined 1,500 pesos because they did not prevent some of their neighbors from consuming parts of a cow that had been killed by thieves.
The criminals killed the cow but for unknown reasons, were unable to carry it off the property of Ramón Díaz and Esther Almeida. The hungry neighbors were able to extract some cuts from the animal until the Technical Department of Investigations of the National Police took over,
poured diesel fuel over the carcass and burned it.
The owners of the cow, Díaz and Almeida, lost the animal, did not partake of the meat, and had to pay the 1,500-peso fine.
