SANTIAGO DE CUBA, August 2 (Luis Alberto Rivera, APLO) There is an outbreak of viral meningitis in Santiago de Cuba. Even though the number of the infected has gone down, health authorities continue working to curb the disease.
As usual, most of the victims are children. In the South Childrens hospital here, about 30 new cases are diagnosed every day. Those that have adequate sanitary conditions at home are treated there; about two or three are admitted to the hospital.
The population is concerned about the epidemic.
