HAVANA, August 1 (Agencia Cuba Voz) - Julio Domínguez shot and killed a 22-year-old man in his backyard in the early morning of July 30 in Pedro Betancourt, Matanzas province. The shooter, Julio Domínguez, is a well-known Communist Party activist and the victim had a police
record.
One of the policemen who was investigating the shooting said Lázaro Francisco Cárdenas Domínguez was hit by one round fired from a shotgun. He added that the victim had been paroled six months before and that he had been under surveillance for four months under suspicion of
being a peeping tom.
The local delegate of the Cuban Communist Party, a woman by the name of Xiomara, said: "Anyone caught in someone elses yard should be killed." Her statement shocked residents of this small town, who already had misgivings about the course the investigation would take. Many
residents believe that in this case, like many others before it, justice won't prevail, given the good political status of the shooter.
