HAVANA, July 28 (Carmelo Díaz Fernández, APSIC) An activist with a trade union organization independent of government control was assaulted by a mob outside his home on the night of July 9, shortly after police warned him to abandon his posture of pacific opposition to the
government.
Manuel Lantigua Domínguez, 41, was set upon by a mob who beat him while they called him a "counter-revolutionary, a worm and a mercenary." The beating left him with a broken rib and black and blue all over the head and upper body.
The police arrested Lantigua after the incident.
