Children pressed into duty collecting garbage
HOLGUIN, Cuba - January 29 (Yosvani Anzardo
Hernández, Jóvenes sin Censura
/ www.cubanet.org) - A group of 30 children
and one teenager have been organized into
a brigade by members of the Panamerican
Health Organization to pick up solid refuse
in the city.
Local government officials say there are
not enough vehicles to do the job and it
is common to see piles of refuse in the
streets.
The project, called by a Spanish phrase
that could be translated to "Live-end
street" includes picking up garbage
in the yards of residents who want to participate.
