Three opposition activists sentenced as 'dangers' to society

HAVANA, March 27 (Juan Carlos Linares Balmaseda / www.cubanet.org) - Three dissidents have been sentenced on charges of being a "danger" to society.

Raudel Martínez Gómez, 25, and Víctor Yunier Fernández Martínez, 22, received sentences of three years in prison while Joenny Alonso Saiz, 24, received a sentence of three years of home detention.

Martínez Gómez, son of political prisoner Raúl Martínez Prieto, was sentenced February 23 following his trial.

Fernández Martínez, a member of the Popular Republican Party, and Alonso Saiz of the November 30 Democratic Party, were tried March 15.
