Woman in White denounces threats to her safety

HAVANA, March 16 (Roberto Santana Rodríguez / www.cubanet.org) - Dolia Leal Francisco, wife of imprisoned dissident Nelson Aguiar Ramírez, says she was the subject of threats and blackmail this week at the Carlos J. Finlay military hospital.

She said that two state security agents identified as Marcos and David said her work on behalf of prisoners hurts her husband, leader of the Liberal Orthodox Party.

"They threatened that if I continued work on behalf of the Ladies in White and the opposition they would give an extra sentence to Nelson and force him to complete his entire sentence," she said.

Aguiar Ramírez, 60, has been held at the military hospital since November 20, 2004, because of his health.
