Sugar mill worker fired because he's a dissident
MATANZAS, Cuba, March 22 (Oscar Sánchez
Madan / www.cubanet.org) - Juan Francisco
Sigler Amaya, a member of the board of directors
of the Alternative Option Independent Movement,
says he was fired last week from his job
at the Cuba Libre sugar operation because
of his political views.
Sigler Amaya, 53, said mill manager Orlando
Martínez Acosta on March 14 invoked
law 1 of 2001 under which he was fired because
he met in his home with people opposed to
the "ideological principles" of
the revolution.
"This is evidentially political act,
planned by State Security and carried out
by its unconditional collaborators,"
Sigler Amaya said.
