Plantains lost for lack of transportation

HOLGUIN, Cuba - July 26 (Liannis Meriño Aguilera, Jóvenes sin Censura / www.cubanet.org) - More than 100 hundredweight of plantains went bad in government warehouses in Banes while the government agency in charge of collecting farmers' produce searched for a means of transporting them to market.

Local residents bitterly complained when they learned about the loss during a period of scarcity.

Workers of Acopio, the agency that collects produce from farmers, said the occurrence is common, as the means of transportation that are available are overused.
