Dissident union members warned by authorities
HAVANA, February 16 (Víctor Manuel
Domínguez, Lux Info Press / www.cubanet.org)
- Two state security agents visited the
homes of independent union members Aurelio
Bachiller Álvarez and Enrique Pérez
González last week and told the two
men that their "counter-revolutionary
activities" were being monitored.
Bachiller Álvarez was advised that
authorities would prevent the holding of
an event to mark the fifth anniversary of
the establishment of the Independent Workers
Confederation. Bachiller Álvarez
is the organization's leader.
Pérez González was told to
stop his activities at the movement's Aracelio
Iglesias Library and to stop giving workshops
at the organization's training center.
Both men said their planned activities
would be carried out as programmed.
