Independent journalist Roberto Santana Rodríguez cited by police

HAVANA, April 11 (Ana Leonor Díaz, Grupo Decoro / www.cubanet.org) - Independent journalist Roberto Santana Rodríguez was ordered last week to appear before State Security officials who told him this was his last chance to give up independent journalism or face a prison term.

This was the second time in less than two months that Santana Rodríguez, 38, has been threatened under Law 88 which, among other things, makes contact with foreign governments a punishable offence.

Before becoming an independent journalist in 2004, Santana Rodríguez was a chess teacher, but he lost his job because of his political views.
