Political prisoner fears conjugal visits being taped

CAMAGUEY, Cuba, April 6 (Marilyn Díaz Fernández, Lux Info Press / www.cubanet.org) - Political prisoner René Montes de Oca Martija says there's a possibility hidden microphones and tape recorders are recording conjugal visits by his wife to the Cerámica Roja prison where he's being held.

Montes de Oca Martija said in a note slipped out of the prison that a source told him that his wife, Esther Germán Valdés, had requested an appointment for her next visit but was told space was unavailable on the requested day.

"The source confirmed that this was a pretext to gain time to install the microphones," Montes de Oca Martija said. "This is a violation of my privacy and an act against human dignity."

Montes de Oca is general secretary of the Cuban Pro Human Rights Party.
