Grocery store in La Lira ransacked again

HAVANA, Cuba - August 10 (José Antonio Fornaris, Cuba-Verdad / www.cubanet.org) - Thieves broke into the grocery store in La Lira neighborhood in what is by now becoming a regular occurrence, and took some merchandise and an old pair of sneakers belonging to the store's clerk.

The thieves broke through the main door of the establishment, neighbors said, and carried off cigarettes, spaghetti, and an old tape recorder in addition to the sneakers.

In the latest incident before this one, nine months ago, thieves took legumes, soap, rice, and cigarettes.

Usually, after these incidents, store personnel are suspended from their duties, pending investigation.
