Independent journalist receives death threat

HAVANA, September 1 (Roberto Santana Rodríguez / www.cubanet.org) - Independent journalist Marilyn Díaz Fernández of Lux Info Press says State Security agents threatened her when she recently visited her husband and brother in prison.

"They threatened me with jail if I continued to work as an independent journalist," she said. "They said that I transmitted false news, which is a lie."

Her husband and brother are imprisoned in the Cerámica Roja and Kilometer 8 prisons, respectively, in Camaguey province, where she is based. She identified the officials who threatened her as major Bombino and Aldana.

"I remain firm," she said. "I know that I am living in a dictatorship and at any moment can be imprisoned like so many others have been."
