Bleeding prisoner is hospitalized
SANTA CLARA, Cuba, October 17 (Grisel
Domínguez Consuegra / Cubanacán
Press / www.cubanet.org) - Prisoner Léster
González Pentón, sentenced
to 20 years during the 2003 crackdown on
dissidents, was taken from the Youthful
offenders Prison in Villa Clara to the Celestino
Hernández Robau hospital in Santa
Clara last week.
"For more than a year I've been suffering
from rectal bleeding," said González
Pentón, 27. "For that reason
it was decided to do a rectoscopy."
Yanet Ocaña Castro, his wife, said
her husband was placed in a room with AIDS
patients and asked her to notify an officer
of the political police to find another
room for him. He said he would refuse the
rectoscopy if his room was not changed.
