Ag markets bare in Ranchuelo

RANCHUELO, Cuba - June 17 (Félix Reyes Gutiérrez, Cubanacán Press / www.cubanet.org) - Government-run agricultural markets in Ranchuelo are bare during the week because inspectors only visit the markets on weekends, said Milagros Fernández, who works in the El Prado market.

"You have to come to the market on Saturdays and Sundays," she said.

An older woman said: "What is the point of the government's telling us to eat vegetables? Where are they?" The woman pointed out the only vegetable available was carrots.
