Store security personnel demand better working conditions

HAVANA, Cuba - June 10 (Roberto Santana Rodríguez / www.cubanet.org) - Security agents at the food warehouse #308 in Havana protested to the facility's administrators about "unsatisfactory" working conditions, which include the presence of vermin and stagnant black waters in the work areas.

The center's administrator, Raúl Valdespino, answered their concerns by telling them if they didn't find working conditions acceptable, they should quit, said Raúl Sosa, an independent union organizer.

Two other workers, Israel Pruna and Heriberto Pruna, complained they had been working from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and that their salary had been reduced from 450 pesos two months ago to 225 pesos a month.
