Workers warned for refusing to submit to strip search

RANCHUELO, Cuba - May 26 (Félix Reyes Gutiérrez, Cubanacán Press / www.cubanet.org) - Three women who work at the "Ramiro Lavandero Cruz" cigarette factory in Ranchuelo were issued a public warning for refusing to submit to a strip search upon leaving the factory.

Elina Quintero, Nersy Trujillo, and Yuliet Ponce said they were instructed by security personnel to strip so they could be searched as they were leaving at the end of their shift.

The three pointed to Public Law 229, which regulates working conditions, and stipulates that workers cannot refuse to be patted down, but says nothing about stripping.
