Sanitary napkins disappear from drugstore
shelves
CIENFUEGOS, Cuba - July 12 (Luis Miguel
González, Cubanacán Press
/ www.cubanet.org) - There has been a shortage
of sanitary napkins at local drug stores
for the past three months.
Aida Rivero, a clerk at the "Tulipán"
pharmacy, said that customers have been
forced to use rags or pillow stuffing.
Sanitary napkins are available at dollar
stores but at an elevated price.
Said frustrated customer Maritza Sánchez,
"The health of the people doesn't matter
to the government, just the image it projects
to the world of a medical power."
