Family worried by Adolfo Fernández Sainz's loss of weight

Reporters Without Borders. France, January 12, 2005

Adolfo Fernández Sainz was able to receive a visit from his wife, Julia Nuñez, and his daughter, Joana Fernández, on 6 January. They said the prison authorities have finally prescribed medical treatment for him. But they told Reporters Without Borders he is still very thin. Non-political prisoners who offer him food are punished and interrogated about their conversations with him.

Nuñez and Fernández complained that, each time they visit him, the rules have changed as regards the foodstuffs they are allowed to bring. The last time, the guards tried to prevent them from giving him the proteins he needs. Their next visit is scheduled for three months from now.
