Trombone player suspended because of dissidient
affiliation
CAIBARIEN, Cuba, December
5 (Vladimir Santaya Santana, Villa Blanca
Press / www.cubanet.org) - Hugo Martínez
López, a trombone player for the
municipal band, says local cultural authorities
have ordered his suspension from rehearsals.
Martínez López said he was
told that the action was taken because he
frequented the homes of government opponents.
He is a member of the November 30 Democratic
Party.
“I fear that they’re going to
expel me from the Concert Band and I’ll
be left with a job to support my family,”
he said.
