Prisoner of conscience denied drugs for ailment

PLACETAS, Cuba - August 1 (María Elena Alpízar, Grupo Decoro / www.cubanet.org) - Authorities at the Kilometer 7 prison in Camagüey province have denied drugs to dissident prisoner Jorge Luis García Pérez, according to his sister, Bertha Antúnez Pernet, president of the National Civic Resistance Movement.

García Pérez, commonly known as Antúnez, suffers from a breathing disorder which requires medication and well as the use of a nasal spray.

Antúnez and his sister say this has been denied him in reprisal for criticism he has made from his prison cell.
