Close to 3 million children start school
in Cuba
SANTA CLARA, Cuba, September 8 (Cubanacán
Press / www.cubanet.org) - The school year
started September 6 for close to 3 million
Cuban children, in spite of the disruption
caused by Hurricane Charley a few weeks
before.
Primary and middle school students must
wear school uniforms and may not sport foreign-looking
symbols of any kind. They also may not carry
foreign school bags to school. Boys may
not wear earrings or dyed hair and girls
may not wear lipstick or makeup.
