TV Martí signal jammed in Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Cuba, October 5 (Javier Machado, Cubanacán Press / www.cubanet.org) - The Cuban government has installed a transmitter to jam the TV Martí signal, broadcast to the island from a U. S. -based C-130 plane.

According to reports from the island, the broadcast was only seen by Santa Clara residents on the first day it broadcast, August 21. When the signal was picked up by some on Channel 13, they promptly called their neighbors and spread the word by phone.

After that, the government has broadcast a jamming signal on the same frequency every time TV Martí goes on the air.
