Cuban high school student stabs, kills,
teacher in school
HOLGUÍN, May (Juan Carlos Garcell,
APLO / www.cubanet.org) - A 16-year-old
11th grade student stabbed a teacher at
the "Luis Artemio Carbó"
secondary school in Sagua de Tánamo,
in Holguín province April 30. The
teacher died from his wounds a short time
later.
The student, Yoandri Takecheli, had been
harshly reprimanded by the 32-year-old Phys.
Ed. teacher the day before, according to
other students at the school. Students said
Takecheli tried to go through the cafeteria
line twice, and when the teacher, Leonel
Molina, noticed, he took his tray, pushed
him and insulted him in front of the other
students.
The next day, Takecheli brought a knife
to school, called Molina, and stabbed him
twice, once in the arm and again in the
stomach. The stomach wound proved fatal,
doctors at the "Juan Paz Camejo"
hospital said later that day. Molina arrived
at the hospital alive, but died shortly
thereafter.
Takecheli fled after stabbing Molina, but
was apprehended by other teachers. He was
taken to the local police station, where
a doctor declared he was in a very excitable
state. Police later took him to the provincial
capital.
