Fifteen workers walk of a contruction job in protest in Cuba

HAVANA, July 16 (www.cubanet.org) - Fifteen works on a construction project walked off the job in protest over working conditions, said independent union leader William Toledo Terrero.

Toledo, secretary of the National Independent Workers Federation, said the workers had sought proper protective gear, tools and better food and payment of back salaries.

The workers were employed by the government's Empresa Constructora de Obras Industriales.

Toledo said the majority of the workers were young graduates of trade schools with specialized skills in masonry, painting, soldering and other functions.
