Cuban health care worker fired for political reasons

HAVANA, Cuba, August 15 (www.cubanet.org) Administrators of the Hygiene and Epidemiology Center in Niquero, Granma province, fired a worker, accusing him of fostering an unfavorable climate among his fellow workers and of expressing negative opinions about the government.

The Center's director, Dr. Elena Moreno, said that Luis Rafael Rodríguez did not have the requisite political conditions to work at the institution. Technically, Rodríguez is said to be an excellent worker.Rodríguez recently served two years and eight months of a three-year sentence for disobedience. He is a signer of the Varela project and lives in Niquero with his wife and two sons.
