HAVANA (www.cubanet.org) - When the brother of Miguel Galván Gutiérrez brought him a light bulb to illuminate his cell at the Aguica prison in Matanzas province, he was told it could not be given to him.

Family members quoted a political police official named Peñate as saying Galván Gutiérrez's current sentence included "being confined in the dark in solitary confinement."

Galván Gutiérrez , 38, deputy director of the National Center for Labor Training as well as being an impendent journalist, was sentenced to 26 years imprisonment in April.
