HAVANA, April 30 (Juan Carlos Linares, Cuba-Verdad / www.cubanet.org) -
Employees and staff at the Alipio León municipal hospital, in
Aguada de Pasajeros, central Cuba, say they go hungry during the working day.
"The food served to doctors, technicians, and administrators in the
dining hall are not enough for people who work up to 12 hours a day," said
independent journalist Ramón Medina, a city resident. The usual fare at
the dining hall consists of small portions of rice and vegetable broth, said
Medina.
"For a snack, they get small bun with tomato," said Medina.
Several doctors who did not want to be identified told Medina the problem
they face at the hospital is real.
"They all agreed that poor nutrition increases the risk of contracting
certain diseases," said Medina.
