CAMAGUEY, March 4 (Normando Hernández, / www.cubanet.org) - Two
independent journalists who had been arrested Friday were released over the
weekend after being interrogated by police.
Lexter Téllez, 27, and Carlos Brizuela, 29, were arrested early
Friday at Téllez' home.
Téllez was accused of disseminating news abroad and was interrogated
three times by Captain Armando Alemán, of the Technical Investigations
Department in Ciego de Ávila. He was finally released Sunday night.
"Major Tony, of the State Security Department, took me home," said
Téllez. He said his files, typewriter, and books that had been
confiscated have not been returned.
Brizuela was questioned four times about his work, and then declared himself
on strike, refusing to eat, drink, or speak. He was released Saturday morning.
