HAVANA, June 25 (José Antonio Fornaris, Cuba-Verdad /
www.cubanet.org) - Cuban political police have threatened the wife of jailed
Cuba-Verdad journalist Carlos Alberto Domínguez, saying she will be
punished if they can establish that she is the one taking Dominguez
reports out of the prison. The reports have subsequently been published by
Cubanet on its web site, Cubanet.org.
Domínguez smuggled out a note to Cuba-Verdad in which he says that a
Department of State Security major who calls himself Jorge, although other
sources say his name is Yuri Roger, went to see him at Valle Grande prison and
told him that if he could ascertain that his wife María González
was the one taking the reports out of prison, he would take reprisals against
her.
Domínguez described the interview as "tense" and told the
officer that he had received death threats from prison personnel.
Domínguez has been held since February 23 and has not had a trial. He
has heard he will be accused of "disrespect" and disorderly conduct in
public.
Domínguez was recently taken to the prison hospital at the behest of
physician inmates because he was suffering from strong headaches.
