HAVANA, June 10 (Reinaldo Cosano Alén / www.cubanet.org) - The only
theater in the Isle of Youth capital of Nueva Gerona has been closed for three
weeks for fears the ceilings will collapse.
The condition of the building, which doubles as movie house and meeting
hall, worsened with the recent rains and portions of the ceiling started
collapsing.
In April, just before the local Communist Party meeting, the theater
received some hurried attention, including a partial application of
waterproofing to its roof. Some more repairs were supposed to be finished after
the Party meeting.
