www.cubanet.org) - A number of elderly retirees trying to supplement their
pensions by selling odds and ends are routinely harassed by police in San José
de las Lajas, south of Havana.
The pensioners sell fruits, vegetables, plastic bags, and cigarettes, in the
streets, which police prosecute as instances of forbidden self-employment.
