Criminal records and employment in Cuba
http://www.puenteinfocubamiami.org/cuba_latest2.html
(HAVANA, January 17 / Reinaldo Cosano Alen/LUX Infopress) The
government's demand for a criminal record certificate when applying to any
position in the work force, is reflected in the high unemployment rate.
Criminal records are used and manipulated by the government as ways to credit
laborers as well as to deny them any constitutional right of being reinstated in
the work force and be socially productive human beings once they have completed
any criminal sanction.
Sanctions imposed by the civil and military tribunals are computed
immediately in the central register, the only exceptions are made with tickets
and fines for less than $200 pesos. This also gives the government leeway to be
able to eliminate from the working forced those who are members of the
opposition and even though it takes years of hard work and studies to become a
University professional, taking ones whole means of economic support is what
counts, as it was the case of this reporter.
The government being the one who controls the criminal records register, and
being the main employer in a nation, puts the employment applicant in a
difficult situation, for by not being able to meet all the employer's
requirements, in the end leaves the worker defenseless.

Medical attention denied to prisoner with lectopirosis in Combinado de
Guantánamo
http://www.puenteinfocubamiami.org/guantanamo_2html
(GUANTÁNAMO, CUBA, January 17) Common prisoner Daniel Camacho
Machena 31 years old, confined in the Company 1 of the TO-500 in the provincial
prison of Combinado de Guantánamo, is seriously ill with lectopirosis
(Rat Fever) which can lead to death without the required medical attention.
However, Captain Victor Reyes Cobas refuses to allow this prisoner to
receive the required medical assistance from the medical post in this penal
institution.
This inhuman and cruel attitude is based on the fact that as a common
prisoner, Camacho Machena displays an open opposition to the prevailing
totalitarian regime in Cuba, behavior that is only observed by political
prisoners.
Example of this is that in protest to this medical violation, this prisoner
along with political prisoner Ernesto Lucas Corral Cabrera screamed slogans of "down
with the dictatorship of Fidel Castro", situation for which they both were
strongly pushed and locked in punishment cells.
Reported from the city of Guantánamo, Ferdinando Castro de
Lardiller, National Delegate of the Party Democratic 30 de November "Frank
País" and Coordinator of the CODCE. For the Information Bridge Cuba
