(HAVANA, February 6th) Sources close to the police disclosed that as
many as fifty people were arrested and sent to a police station in the
municipality of El Cerro as part of their "cleaning" campaign as a
result to the increase in the crime rate registered in the Island.
The detainees were subjected to interrogations, official records were opened
on each of them in search for hints that would lead to the person responsible
for the murder of five adults and a boy the evening of December 17th, 2002 in
the National Freeway.
The source finished saying "Minister of the Interior general
Abelardo Colomé Ibarra has urged all forces of the Interior to take any
necessary measures to find those responsible for the brutal crime.
