Government official rerouts construction materials for his own use

CAMAGÜEY, April 1 (Normando Hernández, CPIC / www.cubanet.org) - The government official who manages the 'Antonio Guiteras' sugar mill in Las Tunas province, Luis Alberto Mas, 'rerouted' construction materials to make an addition to his own house.

"Without regard for the poor situation of most of the housing in the area, this official had another house built behind his, and he uses it to raise pigs," said human rights activist Alfredo Domínguez.

According to Domínguez, the quality of the house where Mas raises pigs is better than that of the housing occupied by most of the workers in the sugar mill. Mas is a Communist Party member.

"People hereabouts constantly comment about the misuse of construction materials by this official," said one area resident.
