CAMAGÜEY, September 24 (Homero Pacheco Ordoñes, CPIC / CubaNet)
- Betty Pérez Rodríguez, 30, a teacher's aide with 10 years'
experience, was fired from her job at the Mártires del Moncada elementary
school for refusing to join the Communist Party.
Pérez said at a Communist Youth League meeting that she did not want
to join the party because she intended to leave the country. She subsequently
went on vacation and when she returned she found she had been expelled from the
Communist Youth and from her job.
According to the school's principal, Pérez is "an exemplary
worker."
