CAMAGUEY, September 3 (Joel Blanco García, CPIC) - Leonides Sixol,
29, was condemned to six months of house arrest after police found six bottles
of soft drinks in his possession.
Sixol was arrested August 14 at the bus station in the municipality of
Florida, Camagüey province, by two agents of the Ministry of the Interior
and taken to the police station where he was held for three days while the case
was investigated.
Sixol's wife, Leonor Estrada Márquez, said that police were
predisposed against her husband. "The desk officer and another officer,
Alexander Hernández, known around here as 'Robocop,' got together to
punish my husband. At the time of the arrest, 'Robocop' said he would lock
Leonides up for six to nine months."
She added that Sixol was insulted several times during his trial by
'Robocop' and that the judges did nothing to stop him.
