HAVANA, Oct 3 (AFP) - Cuba announced Wednesday it would sign on to 12 United
Nations treaties aimed at fighting terrorism and said they would be approved by
the country's legislature on Thursday, an official statement said.
President Fidel Castro said at a massive demonstration outside Havana last
Saturday that the only Communist-ruled country in the Americas is "against
terrorism and against war."
"No matter what happens, we will never permit our territory to be used
for terrorist actions against the people of the United States," Castro
said.
Cuba, which is on the US State Department's list of state sponsors of
terrorism, has repeatedly condemned the September 11 terrorist strikes on the
United States, while also criticizing US President George W. Bush's remark that
"either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists."
