Police out in force after anti-government slogans appear in Palma Soriano

SANTIAGO DE CUBA, September 28 (Milagros Beatón, APLO / CubaNet) - Police have been very much in evidence in the streets of Palma Soriano since September 24, when anti-government slogans appeared in several walls around town.

"Fidel Castro, murderer," "Fidel Castro, tyrant," and "Fidel Castro, terrorist," read the signs painted on the walls of the House of Culture, the blood bank, and other government buildings in the area.

"Police demand identification of anyone walking down the street. This feels like a military occupation," said one man. So far, no arrests have been reported.
