The move follows a meeting in New York between Nauru's president Rene Harris
and Cuba's foreign minister Filipe Perez Roque.
The two countries have been discussing a proposal for a Technical and
Economic Cooperation Agreement since April.
The proposed agreement, which is expected to be finalised next month, will
be submitted to the Cabinet of Nauru, following the establishment of diplomatic
relations.
Mr Perez Roque has raised the possibility of Cuba sending health experts to
Nauru.
Cuba provides medical and health experts throughout the world under similar
agreements. |
