Algiers, Algeria - Cuban President Fidel Castro Ruz is in Algiers Sunday
where he arrived on Saturday evening to begin a two-day official visit.
Castro, who was received by his host Abdelaziz Bouteflika, on Sunday laid a
wreath at the Martyrs Square in Algiers, the Algerian capital.
Algiers is Castro's first stopover on a tour that would also take him to
Iran and Malaysia.
Algerian sources said the visit was aimed at enhancing the existing
bilateral relations, co-operation and solidarity between Algiers and Havana.
President Bouteflika had paid an official visit to Cuba in April 2000.
