HAVANA, February 27 (Reinaldo Cosano Alén) - Lester González
Pentón, a baker at the "La Gaviota" bakery in the central Cuban
city of Santa Clara was fired from his job after officials warned him to quit
associating with dissident groups and he refused.
González was the master baker and pastry maker at "La Gaviota."
The bakerys administrator, Luis Alain Lemus, had told him to stay away
from the counterrevolutionary groups. When González continued his
activities with the Support Group for the Independent Teachers Union, Lemus
fired him.
Co-workers said González is a hard worker and knowledgeable about his
trade.
"La Gaviota" is one of several bakeries in the area that sell
their products in the dollar economy.
