Human rights activist harassed

CAMAGÜEY, April 10 (Pablo Pacheco Avila, CPIC) - Human rights activist Roberto Valdivia Hernández ’s name was found by State Security officers in the electronic address book that they confiscated from two Czech citizens arrested here in January. Since then, they have been harassing him and his family.

State Security agents follow Valdivia wherever he goes. They visited the family that lets him use their phone to place calls abroad and threatened them with loss of the service if they continued to allow him to use the phone.

Valdivia’s mother has been repeatedly threatened by the agents, who tell her that they are going to lock him up for 20 years.

Valdivia is the delegate of the Committee For Human Rights in Ciego de Ávila.
