HAVANA, August 29 (Edel José García, CNP) U. S. and Cuban
Christian youth groups staged two baseball games in Santa Clara city, central
Cuba, in spite of a lack of cooperation by the government in organizing the
games.
The provincial government, following orders of the Interior Ministry,
refused the teams the use of the sports fields in the area. After some
uncertainty, the games were played at a field belonging to the agricultural
cooperative "Juan Francisco Aro." Hundreds of local residents watched
the games.
The games were sponsored by evangelical churches in central Cuba. The
members of the U. S. team were said to have come from Florida and Birmingham.
