Authorities try to confiscate house for their use, threatening to kill teen

CAMAGÜEY, August 14 (Normando Hernández, CPIC) - Municipal authorities have been trying to confiscate Miriam Martínez' house to make it the headquaters of the Union of Communist Youth. Most recently, a police sector chief threatened to shoot Martinez' son if they didn't move.

"This affair already cost me three years in jail," said Martínez.

Recently, a police sector chief named Peguero approached Martínez' 18-year-old son at the Vertientes market and told him to vacate the house, which the young man declined to do.

"I'll shoot you if you don't do as I say," Peguero reportedly told Martínez' son.
