Three men sentenced for selling dog meat

CAMAGUEY, Cuba (Normando Hernández, CPIC) – Three men were sentenced to one year each in prison for selling dog meat in the municipality of Céspedes in Camaguey province.

The three men – Carlos Daniel Alvarez Martínez, Amauri Brizuela Araujo and Eduardo Pupo López – told customers they were buying mutton. They were accused of selling the meat of 14 dogs.

The meat sold for eight pesos a pound and was sealed in nylon bags to make it look better.
