A man who says his ex-wife kidnapped their son and took him to Cuba has
returned from the island without him.
Jon Colombini's son, his ex-wife, her new husband and daughter had agreed to
meet at the Havana airport yesterday, but the family never showed up.
Despite the setback, Colombini says he will not give up.
"I believe (my son) will be home," Colombini said. "I just
can't wait to have him back."
The state department says that it does not know why Colombini's ex-wife
changed her mind. Colombini's attorney says they will keep negotiating with her.
Novice Pilot Who Crashed In Cuba Returns
WPLG Click10.com. Thursday August 09
The student pilot who took a plane from Marathon and crash-landed in Cuba is
back in the U.S. today.
Milo John Reese arrived at Miami International Airport Wednesday and was
whisked away in a gray sedan by FBI agents. He is now being held at the federal
detention center in Miami.
"We'll try and talk to him now and find out what his story is,"
FBI spokesperson Judy Orihuela said.
Reese is accused of interstate transportation of a stolen aircraft. He took
off from Marathon Airport last Tuesday and crashed on a beach near Havana.
Reese has not said why he flew to Cuba, but does have a history of strange
behavior. In 1999,he faked his own disappearance in his hometown of Reno,
Nevada. He said that the stunt was part of an anti-prostitution campaign.
His wife said that her husband was also taking flying lessons in Nevada, but
she got him grounded because of his mental illness. She said she tried made
calls to the Marathon airport to notify them, but her calls went unreturned.
The day before Reese made his flight to Cuba, he wrote a letter to a Nevada
lobbyist saying, " I'm tired of getting laughed at by my friends, the press
and getting ostracized from every church I try to attend."
Reese is expected to make an appearance before a federal magistrate today. |
